This lightweight Lokki shopping bag from Marimekko is the perfect daily companion. It also stows wonderfully in other (hand) bags, so it is always at hand. The shopping bag is printed in Helsinki. Basically, they are sewn over the entire width of the fabric, which is why the appearance may vary slightly from the product images. Each piece is therefore intentionally unique.
The idea for the Lokki -pattern (seagull) came to Maija Isola when she was looking at a window with a curtain drawn in front of it. The sun was shining and the wide folds of the curtain formed wavy shadows. Maija had a sudden inspiration: when a fabric is printed with waves, even a small piece of such a fabric looks richly folded.
