Abstract pillowcase
The Viitta Pillowcase from Marimekko is made of unbleached cotton panama, printed in Helsinki. The cover has a zipper on one side.
Maija Isola's work of more than 500 fabric prints is an inexhaustible treasure trove. Viitta (Guiding Fire) is one of her geometric designs from the 1960s, in which we can see her exploring the emerging Constructivist movement in the Finnish art scene of the time, along with Minimalism and other geometric trends. Constructivism was originally born in Russia at the beginning of the 20. century and had a great influence on modern art and architecture, such as the De Stijl and Bauhaus movements. Viitta shows the strict abstraction and monochromatic surfaces characteristic of this art movement.
