Woody is the modern interpretation of a traditional shelving system inspired by a ladder. Without any obvious back- or front elements, it is suitable as a freestanding piece, or mounted on the wall. It follows the idea that a shelf shouldn't appear too dominant, so there is enough room to display your things.
Woody clearly contributes to the spirit of modernity. There are no unnecessary extras and the details of the construction aren't hidden. The shelf consists entirely of oak wood, wooden bars, steel and screws. The treated oak gives the shelf a traditional Scandinavian expression, which is renewed and contrasted by the steel shelf inlays.
A connection between tradition and modernism emerges. Typical for the Danish design company Hay and their exclusive collection, the contemporaneous Scandinavian designers are able to revive the traditions of the 50s and 60s, along with Rolf Hay's conviction which helped him to establish his company very quickly in 2003.
Please note that the Woody shelf can't be extended. The shelf elements included can only be used with their respective shelf system.
