Iittala - Ruutu Vase 205

Ruutu is a collection of glass vases which supplements the Iittala assortment of hand-blown vases. Ruutu was created by the well-known designer brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

The flowing, hand-blown glass and the shiny quality of the flat surface result in an elegant combination with the geometrical shape. The simple contours and the beautiful colours practically demand to have the vases arranged in a group.

Ruutu might have a simple shape, but this is the reason why the production of the vases needs experienced glass blowers who have mastered their craft.

“The Ruutu vase is a project that arose from a very ordinary geometrical shape. It can be used on its own, but turns into a real collection when its owner combines the vases as desired to create a surprising kaleidoscope of colours, heights and sizes, a landscape of infinite variations.

Through the colour combinations, we want to display the great colour programme by Iittala while also entrusting the customer with the creative process. He is thereby tempted to create his own constellation with several modules. The approach is closely connected to our work - just like the form of a rhombus, which we had already used before”, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec explain their work on the project for the Finnish manufacturer Iittala.

The Ruutu Vases are available in two sizes 115 mm and 205 mm with different heights and colours.
