Designed in 1959 by Prof. Peter Raacke, the mono-a cutlery revolutionised the tables all over the world. By avoiding any design elements, which used to belong to the exuberant embellishment in earlier days, Prof. Peter Raacke lay the foundation for modern industrial design of everyday objects.
At the beginning, mono-a was punched out of a single piece of stainless steel, a so-called monoblock; therefore this demonstrative name. Today the knife consists of two kinds of steel: the handle is made of rustproof stainless steel, the blade of high-quality hardened steel.
In 1959 this cutlery was classified as avant-garde, but nowadays it is a real classic because mono-a combines noble design with the highest processing quality.
Numerous awards and exhibitions at home and abroad popularised the mono-a cutlery. Today it is considered as the most sold German design cutlery of the post-war era.
