Wood Burning Stoves out of Cast Iron with Danish Tradition

Morsø is a Danish company that has been producing wood burning stoves out of cast iron since 1853. It is one of the best known iron foundries in the country. Every Dane thinks about Morsø Jernstøberis when it comes to wood-burning stoves for indoor and outdoor use, and associates the company with excellent quality and Danish traditional craftsmanship. For generations, Morsø has been considered the epitome of Danish stoves, timeless and modern, effective and comfortable. A small fact: Every other stove in Danemark is a Morsø.

N. A. Christensen founded the iron foundry on the island of Mors in the Limfjord. With a handful of employees, he succeeded in transforming the company into one of the leading foundries of the country within a short period of time. By the end of the 19th century, Morsø cast iron products were known throughout Denmark. The free-standing stoves, that still represent the essence of the Morsø range, were especially popular back then.

In 1915, Morsø received the title of "Supplier of His Majesty the King" by King Christian X, that was renamed "Supplier of the Danish Royal Court" in 1969. The Royal House was attracted to the foundry after Morsø began to furnish churches and other public buildings with their stoves around the penultimate century. Some of the stoves still exist in Amalienborg Castle and other residences of the Danish royal family.

Morsø’s modern era began in the 1960s. Despite central heating systems having gained popularity in Denmark 10 years earlier, the company was still able to bring back the classic stoves into households. A stove in the living room is one of life's pleasures with which modern heating can not keep up.

In addition to the traditional stoves, Morsø also created an outdoor collection that is an innovative and elegant way to enjoy the outdoors. The series includes stoves, that are both grills and fireplaces, as well as many different accessories. Grilling and relaxing outdoors with Morsø is really something special.

Danish Cookware Made of Cast Iron

Morsø has also been providing casting iron cookware since the 19th century. Morsø has produced a stylish series of cookware with functional cast iron pots and pans in a Scandinavian design to improve life at home.
