The bookmark Ellice was designed by Marco Ferreri for the Italian design manufacturer Danese Milano in 1987. It consists of a filmy layer of stainless steel with an integrated fine brass sphere.
Marco Ferreri wrote:
“I marked the pages of the book with paper, a used bus ticket, a piece of a newspaper or a dog-ear.
Paper crumples, slips out of the pages, gets lost. The small leaf made of stainless steel, however, has a copper sphere that prevents it from slipping and that is useful for opening the book. When reading, I hold it in my hand while I read; it follows my movements and keeps me company. It is even washable!
