Rustic pine and birch dining table
The dining table Pirkka comes from the furniture collection of the same name by Ilmari Tapiovaara. Designed in 1955, the furniture is now part of the Tapiovaara Family Collection of the Finnish company Artek .
Pirkka combines rustic forms with the design lightness of the 1950s. Visually, despite being made of solid wood, the table exudes an unexpected looseness that is so typical of Finnish furniture design in the mid 20. century. Soon after its appearance, the Pirkka table enjoyed great popularity and became one of the most successful pieces of furniture of its time.
The Pirkka table is ideal for dining and living areas and is characterized by high-quality, classic design and a unique formal language. Due to its puristic elegance, the Pirkka table fits perfectly into any interior design and at the same time acts as a design highlight. With a length of 150 centimetres, the Pirkka table also offers space for several people.
The table top of Pirkka is made of solid pine wood, the frame is made of birch wood. Both parts are available separately in the colour versions black, brown or a honey tone - accordingly, the wood is waxed, stained or lacquered.
