In 1953, the same year that Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi joined Marimekko , she introduced Piccolo - a vibrant, striped fabric pattern with expressive brushstrokes. Three years later, the shirt Jokapoika (every boy) made from this fabric became a popular staple in the stores and on the streets, cementing its enduring appeal.
