An arts object as pendant lamp: The AIM by Flos, made by the design brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, questions two fundamental light design basics.
The first basic is the geometric middle of the light point: Lamps are mostly hanged in the middle of the room. In the AIM pendant lamp this doesn’t matter, since the grounding occurs via a long cable. The second basic is broken by both designers with the assumption that the cable is only there to be hidden: The AIM by Flos presents a cable forest with impetuous lines and as aesthetic function.
The lamp’s head can be fixed at the adjustable diagonal in the desired height – the complete liberty allows unique combinations. The installations, which emerge thereby, remind us more of artworks than of design! The direct, clear light is suitable for living rooms as well as to illuminate single objects.
The innovative lamp from Flos is also available with plug in order to let it work directly with the nearest socket: AIM LED Cable + Plug – for some more flexible light solutions.
Flos produces the AIM out of polished aluminium, ABS and polycarbonate. The AIM pendant lamp is energy efficient and it can create different light moods in a room because of the dimmable LEDs, while the 9 meters cable suits for different suspension variants. Also in our blog:
