In the Nordic mythology Heima means home or world, but Heima also is the name of the new candle holder of Normann Copenhagen. It is a four-armed candle holder made of cast iron in a minimalistic, Nordic design by Francis Cayouette.
During the interpretation of the classic candle holder the Canuck Francis Cayouette was inspired by the Nordic culture of chimney fires and the applied arts movement of the 50s, which worked with cast iron.
The result is a candle holder with a recognizable design, which pays tribute to the industrial craftsmanship and Nordic tradition. The rough, almost cold surface gives the candle holder Heima a character, while the rounded shapes combine to a modern design.
Francis Cayouette explains: „Arts and crafts must have a recognition value and a history. I have always been fascinated by the Nordic tradition of lightning and cosiness from living flames, and it was an obvious choice to work with the candlestick. Cast iron is an exciting raw material that has been used for many years. It is palpable and adds contours. The Heima candlestick is simple and does not steal the show, but instead makes room for its actual function, namely living flame.“
The minimalistic Candle Holder is made of iron cast and was designed for a cosy get-together in a friendly atmosphere. It is handmade and can be integrated into a modern and classic decor.
Normann Copenhagen suggests warm water and a dry cloth to clean the Heima candleholders. If undesired wax rests remain at Heima, place the product on a layer of baking paper in the oven. After five minutes at about 250°C, take the piece out and wipe the resting wax off. But be really careful: the object is going to be extremely hot.
