The Bench 153A was designed by Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto as early as 1945. The company Artek produces the bench with characteristic L-shaped legs today, following the original design.
The bench with the number 153A is the big brother of the 153B. Thanks to the simple design and the birch wood material, the bench can be used in many places and for many purposes.
It is available with clear, white or black varnish. The Bench 153A possesses the legs typical of Alvar Aalto’s designs, with a shape looking like an upturned L. Aalto equipped stools, tables and chairs with these legs and created a modular system that became known as the L system.
This sytem embodies Alvar Aalto’s ideals of standards and systematics, which make his furniture so versatile and easily integrated. Manufacturer Artek recommends a damp cloth for cleaning his wooden products. If necessary, soapy water can also be used. The bench should be rubbed dry well at the end with a dry cloth.Black marks at its feet can rubbed away with an ordinary eraser.
