The DCW chair, which the designer couple Charles & Ray Eames designed for Vitra, belongs to the Plywood Group Collection. DCW stands for "Dining Chair Wood": DCW is made of the best wood and is suitable for a lot of different uses. DCW is a little bit higher than its counterpart for the lounge area, the LCW, and because of that it is perfect for the dining table.
Charles and Ray Eames spent many years experimenting with new processes for optimizing the way three-dimensionally moulded plywood fits the contours of the body. The result was the Plywood Group, with its moulded plywood seat, backrest and base. The organic shape and the wood's cosy warmth invite users to sit down and relax.
DCW = Dining Chair Wood
The meeting with the legendary designer couple Charles and Ray Eames was for Vitra a fundamental meaning: With the production of their designs in 1957 started the history of the manufacturer as a furniture producer. Charles and Ray Eames impressed Vitra a lot.
The DCW Chair is also available in black.
