Designer chair
The Eames Plastic Side Chair is the contemporary production of the legendary Fiberglass Chair. It was created in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition of the Museum of Modern Art's and was the first industrially manufactured chair made of plastic.
This makes the Eames chair more than just a piece of furniture - it is a piece of cultural history. With various seat shells and bases, the multifunctional chair can be used in a variety of ways. A real all-rounder in the living and object area.
Timeless design
The organically shaped seat shell is connected to the metal undercarriage via integrated "shock mounts". This ensures relaxed and comfortable sitting even over long periods of time. Whether in private areas, restaurants, waiting areas, offices, conference rooms or in large halls, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSX (Dining Height Side Chair X-Base) fits into the most diverse environments.
Classic shape - new seat height
The Eames Plastic Sidechair can be individually assembled with a wide range of seat shells, bases, upholstery and colours. The classic form of the chairs remains untouched. Since 2015, however, Vitra the Eames chair bases have been produced with a new seat height of 43 cm. This is in response Vitra to the average body height, which has increased since the 1950s. With the new underframe heights, the Eames Plastic Sidechair DSX offers maximum seating comfort.
However, due to the small height difference, the chairs in classic height can easily be combined with the new models, so that existing seating groups can also be supplemented with new chairs.
