A seemingly random collection of objects, the tableware series Tonale by English architect David Chipperfield combines different components of table culture, creating elegant coherence.
Tonale was inspired by the traditional pottery of Korea, Japan, and China. David Chipperfield’s concept is an attempt to refine functional household objects. The name Tonale pays tribute to painter Giorgio Morandi, who gave everyday items a distinctive individuality through the use of shades of colour.
The objects of the series are made of a wide variety of materials such as enameled steel, glass, clay and wood. Despite seeking expressive simplicity, the Tonale tableware also takes into consideration today’s desire for durability and versatility.
Additional parts of the series are also available in other colours upon request.
