Bollard light in the iconic three-shade system by Poul Henningsen
The PH 3-2½ bollard light from Louis Poulsen , designed by Poul Henningsen, is based on the iconic three-shade system that Henningsen developed back in 1925/26. Originally designed for the Paris Exhibition, it became an extensive series of luminaires that combine glare-free light with targeted light control. His aim was to create a luminaire system that would ensure uniform light distribution and provide pleasant, soft shadows.
The PH 3-2½ bollard luminaire is part of this innovative series and was specially designed for outdoor use. Its design consists of three shade segments, with the top one having a diameter of 30 cm and the segments underneath coming from the 2½ model. This design allows light to be directed downwards while at the same time creating a soft light distribution in the outdoor area.
Thanks to high-quality materials and precise workmanship, the PH 3-2½ bollard luminaire is ideal for paths, gardens and public areas. It combines timeless elegance with functional lighting and remains true to Henningsen's original philosophy of optimizing light on a scientific basis.
