Ludwig Mies van der Rohe 1929
(Rekonstruction Sergius Ruegenberg 1973)
Table for the pavillon of the German Reich at the World Exhibition in Barcelona.
Ludwig Mies van der Rohes pavillon for the German Reich at the World Exhibition in Barcelona belonged already before the rebuilding in 1986 to the architecture icons of the 20th century, the armchair and stool which he designed for this pavillon are THE design classics.
To this Barcelona-Armchair and -Stool designed Mies also two matching tables, whos production he didn't finish, because they were shaking terribly in the pavillon, that both had to be placed in front of the walls; because of the chrome plating were the tables made of several steel parts, which were screwed together; todays reedition after more then 70 years is the technical problem solved, so that the tables won't shake anymore and now can stand free, not against any walls..
