Birdie’s Nest is a ceiling lamp from Ingo Maurer that converts bulbs in a small bird swarm. The lamp spends indirect light grouping the bulbs dynamically around it outgoing from the baldachin.
The lamp Birdie’s Nest consists of metal. The bulbs’ wings are made of goose feathers. The baldachin includes two integrated transformers. The ceiling lamp operates with ten low-voltage-bulbs (230/125/24 volt, 10 x max. 15 watt). The illuminants are included in the delivery package. The Birdie’s Nest ceiling lamp is designed for rooms with a low ceiling height. It is not adapted for high humidity rooms or outdoors.
Birdie’s Nest is an homage to the bulb. As in many of Ingo Maurer’s lamps, the bulb is the lamps’ design focus. Through small baubles Ingo Maurer offers life to the bulbs and observes them from a scarcely known perspective. The idea of the vivid, flying bulb is also seen at the Lucellino lamp and the Birdie Chandelier.
