The check pattern Piekana (rough-legged buzzard) was originally part of a collection called Iso karhu (Ursa Major), inspired by a book about the life of the Finno-Ugric peoples, as well as their textiles. These said fabrics were patterned using the traditional ikat dyeing technique.
