Eero Saarinen wanted to clean up Saarinen with his Tulip collection. With the "ugly, confusing, restless world" that was under tables and chairs: The tangle of legs has always bothered the Finnish architect and designer. It took Saarinen five years of experimentation and modelling before he presented the completed form of his Pedestal Collection of one-legged furniture to the public.
In the beginning, only the world-famous Tulip Chair was named after the tulip, but today the accompanying table is also known as the "Tulip Table", because the collection of one-legged Knoll furniture belongs together inseparably. Designed in 1956, the Saarinen Tulip Table with its clear, sculptural and organic form is a prime example of timelessness that can still be found today in countless museums, hotels and galleries around the globe.
Knoll manufactures the Saarinen Tulip table with a cast aluminium frame with Rilsan coating. The table top is made of laminate, available in various wood veneers and various marble variants.
Knoll's Tulip table is also available in other heights and diameters on request. We will be happy to advise you on the selection of a suitable Tulip dining table tailored to your needs.
