The Crate Dining Bench from Hay . The Crate Collection was originally conceived in 1934 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld as a solution for reusing surplus wooden crates for shipping. The Crate Collection has now been relaunched in collaboration between Rietveld Originals and Hay reissued. The Crate Dining Bench has remained true to the original design and is characterized by precisely balanced proportions and a transparent construction that aims to minimize production costs and simplify the assembly process.

The timeless design of the bench, with its gently sloping backrest and seat and supportive armrests, reflects the designer's architectural principles: simplicity and spatial efficiency, functionality and comfort, without sacrificing space. Made from solid pine wood, the Crate Dining Bench is available in different color variants with a water-based paint finish and is suitable for a range of outdoor areas. Optional seat cushions made from selected textiles can be added for extra comfort.
