Eclisse - Iconic design table lamp from the sixties
The table lamp Eclisse was designed by Vico Magistretti for the Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide back in 1967. The light source sits in the head of the small sculpture and is concealed by a rotating sphere that is open on one side and serves as a kind of manual dimmer.
The open sphere in the Eclisse The open sphere in the luminaire can be rotated freely, revealing the inner light bulb step by step. Depending on how much of the bulb is visible, the light is either stronger or weaker, more direct or more indirect: if the sphere completely covers the bulb, the light only shines out from its sides. If the light source is completely visible, the light shines directly into the room.
This enables Eclisse manual dimming of the light and creates the desired atmosphere for relaxing, reading or working. The Eclisse table lamp from Artemide is made of lacquered metal and is available in various colors. The small lamp is also suitable for wall mounting.
The Eclisse table lamp from Artemide was awarded the Compasso d'Oro design prize back in 1967. Today, the small lamp can be found in numerous design museums around the world.
To mark the 100th birthday of Vico Magistretti (†), Artemide has reinvented a design icon of the 20. century: The legendary luminaire Eclisse transforms the design of the 1960s into the future with four new metallic paint finishes - the result of an innovative and environmentally friendly coating technology.
