wavy siren design by Maija Isola.
During a trip through Greece in the early 1960s, Finnish designer Maija Isola was inspired by the flowing movements of water. Seireeni, in German Sirene, dates back to 1964 and was named after the Sirens of Greek mythology. The design recalls the enchanting song, which lured sailors into wild waters. The graphic wave pattern is available on textiles and various tableware of the manufacturer Marimekko.
