With Cloud Belux presents the first for the series production concipated lamp design of the master-architect Frank O. Gehry.

Light belongs to the American architect Frank O. Gehry - Pritzkerprice-bearer and one of the most famous builder of our time – since then to the central themes of his works. From the late 60ies until today, for his builds he worked with many innovative lighting concepts and the design of lamps.

In tight cooperation with the company BELUX Frank O. Gehry designed now one of the Seriesproduction designed lamp collection. Already its name – CLOUD – refers to the poetic character of this creation, which should embody the will of its builder - „the feeling of freedom and eccentricity“.

Offered in different sizes and versions – choosable as pendant, stand-, floor-, or table lamp – it is its combined memorial a voluminous but soft, paper-like appeared shade, in whichs centre is the invisible illuminant.

Its irregular, from many wrinkles, bends, bules and dents formed sculptural shape reminds of a airly nice-weather-cloud, soon of a big, soft snowball. Only at the second view it becomes clear that the shade includes several, stacked-together-elements.

But every lamp has its same building plan and the given basic form in the detail an individual note. Because the in the production process developed fold structure of the shade can and is supposed to be changed in a simple buckling or pressing. On this way CLOUD makes its user to co-designer – and this, depending on the wish, still on the newest.

Gehry himself, wants to understand CLOUD as homage Isamo Noguchi. With his famous, papered Akari-Lamps his design especially has the sculptural quality in common. Another parallel to Noguchi is Gehrys lasting interest on the material paper, with which he already worked for his furniture projects. So it does not amaze, whe the first prototype of the new lamp is made of the complex packing-paper-bowls, which was connected with bridge bars.

For the series production you need for light and safety-technical reasons an alternative material. After an intensive research polyesterlies were used especially for this use, which is similar in optic and feel to a strong, little bit fibrous paper. Flexible shaped, tearproof, hard flameable, aging-proof and simple to clean is this material the ideal choice for CLOUD.

For the production of CLOUD arches made of this new material are drawed to bowls and for the bracing furnished with a ring made of transparent polycarbonate. At a time five, seven, ten or fourteen of this bowls, stacked together with small plastic clips, a lampshade. After its mounting it is pressed on a thick of 10 cm and then it can be enfolded with handles from the customer by him-/herself and be put in it final shape.

A filigrane wire construction in which is also the frame of the illuminant is integrated, can be used as handle of the shade. The modular buildup by CLOUD makes it possible, besides the for you series defined standart sizes are also special fabrication after customer wishes produced.

Thanks to its materialisation and its version variant diversity the CLOUD-Kollektion can be used for many range of uses. It makes not only in privat living rooms a good figure, but also in a object area, like in lobbys, lounges, in the restaurants or in conference rooms.

The Cloud Lamp is also available as stand lamp (7 elements) or floor lamp (5 or 7 elements). The pendant can also be ordered with 14 elements. More details will you see in the attached PDF-data:
