Description

The Akari 1N table light is one of the Akari light sculptures by Isamu Noguchi. The delicate lamp with the rounded design creates a gentle light that penetrates through a screen of fine Shoji paper. The name Akari is suitable for the design of the table lamp since it is the Japanese expression for brightness and light, which also includes lightness.

From 1951 the American-Japanese artist and designer Isamu Noguchi designed the Akari Light Sculptures, a total of more than 100 handmade models made of Shoji paper, as table lamps, floor lamps or ceiling lights.

"The light of an Akari shines like the light of the sun, which is filtered through a Shoji paper. The magic of the paper transforms the cool electricity back into the eternal light of the sun. So that their warmth can continue to fill our rooms at night. "(Isamu Noguchi)
