Maria Christina Hamel is a globetrotter: She was born in New Delhi in 1958 and spent her childhood in Thailand and Austria. She moved to Milan in 1973, where she finished school at a German school and studied at the Politecnico di Milano.

After she studied, the design career of Maria Christina Hamel started with cooperation with Ugo la Pietra and later with Ambrose Rossari. Hamel worked with design icons, such as Alessandro Mendini, some of their projects were for Alessi. Hamel also taught at many universities, among them are renowned institutes of India, France, Austria and Italy.

The designer Maria Christina Hamel is always searching for new expressions, mostly out of her favourite material ceramic. The works of Hamel are often in the slim gap between design and arts, which is the reason why they have been included in the collections of numerous museums.

Maria Christina Hamel so to say, advises other companies as a hobby about her corporate design, she creates websites, shops and expositions. She designed for Koziol and other popular brands, such as Alessi, Swarovski or Tissot.
