Alexander Girard was one of the most versatile and skillful architects and designers for furniture and textiles, interior design, graphic design, exhibition design and industrial design. The graphic panels of the Environmental Enrichment Collection by Vitra represent the versatility and the graphical skills of the American designer.
Powerful colours, abstract and geometrical shapes or unique colour constellations: that’s the world of Alexander Girard. The architect and designer belongs to the most embossing figures of American design of the Post War period. He concentrated on textile design, where he was able to express his love for colours, textures and graphical patterns. His designs like this one expand the accessories collection from Vitra now.
Girard collected textiles of all countries while he was travelling. They inspired him. This is how his designs display determinate recognition characteristics, like on the Vitra screens of the Environmental Enrichment Collection: The shiny colours and the graphical quality didn’t lose any of its modernity today.
Colourful screen graphics
Alexander Girard developed screen-print panels since 1971 in order to equip offices, making them more comfortable with an emotional component: the Environmental Enrichment Panels. Thereby he preferred to work with abstract graphic patterns or with figurative images, returning motives like love, comfort, liberty, and so on. The wide wall panels with their versatile, inspiring motives often find their way into private houses.
The re-edition of the Environmental Enrichment Panels by Vitra includes several artistic screen high class prints in different sizes. The Vitra art prints appear on a board with distance frame, easily mounted and suitable for decoration purposes of the own home and working rooms.
