Akantus Description

HELIX-Akantus are the three designers Rolf Bürger, Cornelius van den Hövel and Gerhard Scherbinski-von Volkmann, which founded HELIX-Akantus in 1989 and still lead the business of Akantus.

At the beginning of the 1990s they designed - still under the name HELIX - especially lamps until they created an own Akantus-collection with high quality products and accessories for the interior design, which are still successfully produced and selled.

The Akantus-collection prepares the way for other product lines, which should emerge of cooperation with other companies. Today their customers of Akantus are famous manufacturers, like Carl Mertens, WMF or the fireplace manufacturer Skantherm, just to name some of them.

Akantus received also many design prizes, like the Good Design Award (USA), the iF Design Award or the Red Dot Design prize.

Goal of the Akantus is, to develop products which have a high innovation degree. The basic function of a products becomes to a design theme. Akantus is always design made in Germany and convinces through high functionality and also high quality material- and manufacturing quality.
