Claus Dalby

In 1995, Claus Dalby's career started when he met the flower artist Anne Ableben. Anne showed him a different direction for his life and Claus Dalby discovered his true passion for flowers. His joy and fascination grew day by day and Anne Ableben has been his greatest inspiration. Particularly ceramics and glass as well as the interaction of colours, shapes and structures fascinate Claus Dalby.

Since 1994, he lives with his partner Jaume in a large house in Aarhus. He does not only share his passion for flowers and objects, made of ceramics and glass, in his books, TV shows and blog entries, but whenever time allows, he also opens his garden to the public a few times every year. It has never been intended that his garden becomes a tourist attraction but Claus Dalby loves to share his interests with other people. As he himself said, he likes to motivate people and wants to pass on his knowledge.

Presently, Dalby is part of the managing-committee of the foundation for the conservation of Anne Just's garden which was founded shortly before her death in 2009. It was Anne's biggest and last wish that the garden will be continued according to her interests. Furthermore, Claus Dalby is the publisher and owner of the publishing company Clematis.
