Jørgen Høj Description

Jørgen Høj (1925 – 1994) was trained as a metalworker and upholsterer. He won the Silver Medal awarded by The Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1947 and graduated from the same insti¬tution in 1950, running his own design studio from 1955. He was an all-round architect, work¬ing with furniture, graphics and interior decorating of chain stores, cinemas, etc. For a period of time he worked closely with Poul Kjærholm on several projects, one of them the JH 106 pictured here.

The Wooden Trays seem both self-effacing and remarkable, made to enter into a sophisticated dialogue with its surroundings.
