Lucien Gumy is a designer of the French-speaking part of Switzerland, born in 1988. Wood is the favorite material of the designer of the Alps land.
Gumy was trained as carpenter, before he went to the ECAL in Lausanne as student of product design. During his studies the designer already created his first clever designs. His huge experience helps him in practical and theoretic works while planning and producing products completely on his own today.
The designs by Gumy are characterized by their clever structure. The Swiss designer uses his carpenter experience therefore. His shelf “l'étagère en bois”, which is produced by the Danish manufacturer Hay since 2014 and which is distributed in the Wrong for Hay Collection, won the newcomer competition on the Cologne Furniture Fair, the [D3] Contest 2013. The massive wood shelf works completely without screws and nails. Boards and sticks are simply plugged and they can result in different shelves by mixing differently long boards.
