
Florian Petri was born in the year 1973, after his carpentry apprenticeship he studied industrial design at the University of Darmstadt and the Gerrit Reitveld Academy in Amsterdam.
Since his diploma in the year 2002 he works, beside his own projects, at design offices like Studio 7.5 and Vogt+Weizenegger. Thereby he was involved at projects like the “Mirra” office chair for Herman Miller (Studio 7.5) and the “Sinterchair” (Vogt+Weizenegger).
The designer Florian Petri works for the furniture manufacturer Kaether & Weise since the year 2003. The shelf system “platen_bau” was honoured with the red dot “best of the best” award in the year 2005 and nominated for the Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in the year 2006.
Since 2005 he works at Notebooks for the Chinese international market, for the Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo.
Besides his work as a designer, Florian Petri teaches in the department of industrial design at the University of Arts in Berlin.
