Isabel Hamm was born in Kirchheim/Teck in 1964 and lives in Cologne today. After her apprenticeship at the Academy for Ceramic Design, in Höhr-Grenzhausen, she founded a ceramic studio in Cologne. In 1998 Hamm changed to the Royal College of Art in London and graduated a Master of Art in Ceramic and Glass. Since 1997 she works with glass.
Back in Germany she founded the design office “Isabel Hamm Gestaltung” in Cologne with the work-focus “Tableware” and light. In this time Hamm also designed the Viva TV Award “Comet” (together with A. Motjér). In the year 2000 she took managing positions at the Universities Saar and Niederrhein. She teaches Industrial Design and Plastic Design at the Folkwangschule in Essen.
