New Shapes from Chicago
Parsons & Charlesworth is a designer duo based in Chicago that creates everyday objects for the home, exhibitions, texts and images that go beyond the boundaries of our modern design culture. The founders Tim Parsons and Jessica Charlesworth deal with predefined shapes and question these in their function to create new forms that do not yet exist. The designer duo set up a joint studio in 2014 to revise topics such as climate change, personal survival and happiness through alternative paths and create everyday objects that are not yet available in this form.
Tim Parsons studied industrial design and completed his master's degree in product design at the Royal College of Art in London in 2002. He taught at different universities in England and America, and has since been the professor and chairman of the Design Objects project of the Department of Architecture, Interior Design and Design Objects at the Chicago College of Architecture.
Jessica Charlesworth is a lecturer for the Design Objects project at the Chicago University of Architecture. She graduated in design at the London's Royal College of Art in 2007 and, like Tim Parsons, taught at some colleges and universities.
