Pietro Chiesa was born in Milan in an arts family of Ticino in 1892. With his apprenticeship at the glass factory Giannotti, the Italian designer placed the cornerstone for his 1921 founded own workshop of glass processing.
In his work, Pietro Chiesa connected his love for modernity with high technical skills. This is how he produced the glass windows of the Stock Exchange of Trieste for example.
Finally Gio Ponti came to Chiesa in 1932 with the request of starting to manage the arts department of the newly founded company FontanaArte. Some of the pieces emerging there afterwards are important parts of design history, like the floor lamp laminator. Pietro Chieta passed by in Paris in 1948.
