Sanna Annukka was born in Brighton, England, in 1983. She spent most of the summers of her childhood in Paltaniem, the home village of her mother. There, she spent much time with her family and helped out on the farm. These times were very formative: she learned to love the Finnish landscape and culture, and Finland has been like a second home for her ever since.
After studying at the University of Brighton, she sold her first screen prints in a store in London. Since 2008 she designs for Marimekko.
She currently lives in Brighton and divides her time between freelance work as a screen printing and textile designer and the other half as a designer for the Finnish textile company Marimekko. With her work she expresses her love for patterns, for decoration and mythology. However, she particularly wants to show the solidarity to the people of her home country.
