„It is one of the most elementary life experiences to create everyday objects, clothes or nutrition with the own hands.” Born in 1971 in the Oldenburg Munster, Thomas Wehage grew up in a huge family, where handicraft and work was very valued. The wide sense of his parents for efficiency and functionality, but especially their impartial-audiodactic approach embossed Thomas.
A classic carpenter apprenticeship was the beginning of his career. After some semesters of architecture at the Oldenburg University, he went to a farm in France and worked for a sculptor. He got his master in carpentry and also finished a furniture design university career with honourable mention at the Furniture College Galway/ Ireland.
Thomas Wehage works as freelance since 2005. His current work includes planning of interior areas, artistic works, installation as well a product and furniture design. Thereby, classic shaping and simple elegance belong to his aesthetic maxims as well as functional pragmatism.
